Why Use Plant Food's Tree and Shrub Fertilizers?

Why should you use Plant Food Company's specially formulated tree and shrub fertilizers versus the popular dry soluble and insoluble suspension? There are many reasons:

  • Our products are already in fluid form. They mix easily with water in hydraulic systems. No mechanical agitation is required.
  • No grit or fertilizer granules will build up on the bottom of your tank, and plug your lines.
  • Pumping systems and pumps themselves will last longer with our products. Our products are not abrasive.
  • Our fertilizers are consistent. Every drop contains the same guaranteed analysis. Dry products contain different elements in each granule.

Our fertilizers contain ammonium polyphosphates and orthophosphates, which increase the availability of phosphorus. Dry products only contain orthophosphates. Often some of the dry orthophosphate is never available because it never dissolves. Polyphosphates in our liquids make them superior.

Our Tree Care Fertilizers either contain urea-formaldehyde or urea triazone solution to provide slow release nitrogen. Both forms are water soluble, they are liquids, and as liquids they are available for the plant root to feed from. Common dry fertilizers contain 10% or more insoluble nitrogen. To be of use to the plants it must dissolve. Plant roots cannot utilize these large granules. They are insoluble and do not dissolve. A hammer or a grinder is needed to break these dry particles down to a form that the plant can use.

Our urea formaldehyde and urea triazone fertilizers react with the soil microbes, and the nitrogen they contain becomes available over an extended period of time. One type contains nitrogen that has been found to remain available in small amounts up to 2 years. The other type is normally utilized by the tree or shrub within one year.

Many of our fluid fertilizers contain potassium hydroxide which is only available in liquid form. This type of potassium offers you low salt content.

Plant Food's Tree and Shrub Fertilizers are packaged in five gallon pails for the customer's handling convenience. They can be carried on a truck without the fear of getting rained on and turning into a solid block.

Our newest P.F.C. 16-4-5 premium fluid fertilizer contains four more essential elements than the "popular bagged fertilizer". Ours is more complete and provides trees and shrubs with more elements. Review our label and compare. Our Liqua-Form® 14-7-4 has been used on trees and shrubs for over 30 years. It was developed with our chemists, and the help of Rutgers University. It will outperform any fertilizer on the market.
